Gassler placed the webcam outside of the passenger side while displaying the live video on a projector on the driver’s side. The student’s work earned her $25,000 and winner of the competition. Blind spot detection is becoming a norm in cars. This can come in the form of light, noise, or vibrating sensors that warn drivers of nearby objects/cars they can’t see.
