Huawei Mate 10 Pro Review: Here's what we think

AMAZON LINK: https://amzn.to/2Gl3Qkn LINK TO GIVEAWAY: https://youtu.be/nhUW5y4zOVY LINK TO REVIEW: https://ift.tt/2pBKUV9 The Huawei Mate 10 Pro has had a rough go since its launch. Initially, it was supposed to launch on AT&T which would have given Huawei its first shot at a carrier branded device. That deal fell through thanks to political fallout. Because of the AT&T issue, other retailers decided to step back and evaluate their own relationship with Huawei, prompting Best Buy to pull out of carrying their devices. The company is having a rough go in the United States at the moment and I can't make the call as to who's right and wrong. I can only say that the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a fantastic device mired in the deep chasm of political controversy. You'll have to make up your own mind about the political ramifications but I say to you. The phone is fantastic! The camera could use some improvements but overall, it's fantastic.

Regulation could protect Facebook, not punish it

You know what tech startups hate? Complicated legal compliance. The problem is, Facebook isn’t a startup any more, but its competitors are. There have been plenty of calls from congress and critics to regulate Facebook following the election interference scandal and now the Cambridge Analytica debacle. The government could require extensive ads transparency reporting or […]

Here are the top Midwestern states and cities for startups

The American Midwest has a long history of making stuff. During the 20th century, it was the manufacturing center for the nation, and indeed much of the world. It’s still where a surpassing majority of agricultural commodities are grown and processed. But is it also a major producer of technology startups? Maybe not as much as the coasts, but the Midwest’s bustling metropoli and vast expanses of rural land prove to be fertile ground for quite a bit of startup activity.

How to use machine learning for your startup’s product

There’s a misconception that to leverage machine learning you need to be a mathematical genius. In reality, most machine-learning applications use well-understood, well-tested, off-the-shelf algorithms. For many developers, especially those at startups, the real challenge lies in training the data. Overcoming this challenge takes clever product development with an eye on user experience. Do you really need machine learning? Machine learning can make a good product even better: more engaging, more responsive, and more effective. But, before tackling machine learning, ask yourself whether algorithms are right for your product. Start testing the learning aspect with humans before jumping into machine…

Your social media apps are as addictive as slot machines — should they be similarly regulated?

Slot machines are the most profitable part of any casino. Why? Because they’re designed to be addictive. When users play with slot machines, they’re risking their own money, and if they aren’t careful, they could land in a heap of debt, sometimes without even realizing it; accordingly, slot machines are heavily regulated (usually by state in the United States) to carefully control the odds of payout, and how they can be played. But once a psychological phenomenon is discovered and exploited, it rarely stays in just one place for long. Studying the design and effectiveness of slot machines and other…
