You’ll need to first download the Backup and Sync tool for your PC or Mac when it launches; once you’ve signed in, you’ll be able to choose which folders on your desktop you want to keep backed up, and access them through Drive across your devices. That sounds handy for people who already use Drive extensively – it’d certainly be nice…

Why your startup should use conferences to get users
With the rise of the Internet and all of the content that comes with that, it can be difficult to justify the time, effort, planning, and expense it takes to travel to a conference. If you can video chat with prospective clients, look up industry information online, and log into a webinar to learn the newest trends in your niche, why bother heading to SXSW to expand your user base? It’s certainly true that there are some aspects of conferences that are growing obsolete. However, from providing unique learning experiences to facilitating your next connection, they can be helpful for…

360 video is coming to BuzzFeed and NowThis (like it or not)
The Samsung Gear 360 ー a 360-degree camera that shoots in 4k — is now in BuzzFeed’s hands. Here’s what BuzzFeed’s Head of Development had to say: “We’re excited to partner with Samsung to give our audience engaging, social 360-degree video content. Samsung’s 360-degree technology will enable BuzzFeed to use our ‘test and learn’ strategy to unlock new kinds of shareable content, while learning more about how audiences are consuming and using it.†The possibilities for stupid, weird, hilarious, shocking and ridiculous videos are endless. But 360-degree video either goes viral or turns into sucky content that comes off as…

iPhone manufacturer Foxconn could be building a plant in Wisconsin
A key link in the Apple supply chain is reportedly looking to build its next plant in the heart of dairy country. According to an Associated Press report, Wisconsin officials are hashing out the details with Foxconn representatives, although no further details were reported. Apple products are part of a global supply chain, but Foxconn handles the final chassis assembly. The Taiwan-based factory is also the subject of numerous instances of bad press: from underage workers, to poor wages, and even a rash of suicides that put the company on the tip of all our tongues. 2010 was a particularly bloody year with…
